About Me

My photo
art_teacher88
My name is Kaley Ripa and I am the Art Teacher for Webb Elementary School! I just recently completed a post baccalaureate program from Central Connecticut State University with a certification in Pre K-12 Art Education. Before CCSU, I recieved my Bachelors of Fine Arts with a major in Illustration and minor in Art History from the Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. I come from a family of artists as well as educators and have been surrounded by many wonderful mentors my entire life. As an art teacher, I believe the fundamental formal qualities of art must be taught to enhance the students’ body of work, but I am also a strong believer that assignments must have room for creativity and originality. I start each project with an artist discussion based on a relevant famous work of art, illustrated children's book, or culture from around the world. Aside from teaching, I am also a practicing artist. I love drawing, painting, and photography and tend to focus on portraiture in my personal work. On this site you will find all the work that we are working so hard on in the art room this year!
